Zone of the ENders VR Announced for PS4 and PC

Zone of the Enders PS4

Anubis: Zone of the Enders Mars was just announced at Sony's 2017 Tokyo Game Show. Whether the potential success of this latest re-release has any chances of reviving Zone of the Enders 3 remains to be confirmed, although the highly-publicised split between series producer Hideo Kojima and publisher Konami casts any such possibility in doubt.

Zone of the Enders (2001) and Zone of the Enders 2: The 2nd Runner (2003) are the pinnacle of high speed robot action. The remaster will come with a host of new features, including a VR mode, 4k graphics on PlayStation 4 Pro, and more. The game will also feature full VR support on PlayStation VR, though there's no mention of whether it'll provide Vive or Oculus Rift support. As such, the new game retains the unique and attractive visuals of the original title but boasts textures in updated 4K while using surround sound techniques to offer layered and immersive audio effects.

With interest in the new remaster set to be huge, KONAMI will be inviting attendees to this year's Tokyo Game Show to take the VR-enhanced Jehuty out on a mission. When The 2nd Runner - Mars launches in the spring, most PC VR headsets should work through Valve's open SteamVR service.

In order to celebrate this announcement, Konami has released the debut trailer for Zone of the Enders: Anubis Mars that can be viewed below.

It's not the first time Zone of the Enders has been remastered, as the original PS2 games were released on PS3 and Xbox 360 as the Zone of the Enders HD Collection.
