Cardinals' David Johnson reportedly will have wrist surgery, miss 2-3 months

David Johnson RB

There were several significant injuries around the National Football League in Week 1, but none as staggering as the dislocated wrist suffered by Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson in Sunday's 35-23 loss to the Detroit Lions. He also added 80 receptions for 879 yards and four touchdowns.

Johnson's x-rays came back negative, but the wrist sprain still could keep him out for an extended period.

Johnson left Sunday's loss in Detroit in the third quarter to receive medical attention.

While he didn't give a timetable for Johnson, Arians said Logan is expected to be out eight to 12 weeks.

The Cardinals are placing Johnson on injured reserve, per Schefter, with the hope he'll be able to return to action in 2017. Johnson's 2,118 yards from scrimmage last season led the NFL.

The Cardinals got the news they had feared about David Johnson's dislocated wrist. Rookie running back T.J.

ESPN's Adam Schefter tweeted Tuesday that Cardinals are placing Johnson on the injured reserve list. Without the threat of Johnson in the backfield, the Cardinals' offense will be forced to rely on the pass. There was talk of the team potentially bringing back Chris Johnson, but it's unclear whether that's still an option following the addition of Foster.

Well, he's not going to be a fantasy monster for quite a long time this year. Johnson went down in pain, but got up and tried to play. "It played a factor on the fumble on his next touch".

The news on David Johnson certainly isn't good.
