US intelligence agencies have concluded Moscow worked to tilt the 2016 presidential election in Trump's favor.

Trump Jr. may also appear in the coming weeks before the Senate Intelligence Committee, which is conducting its own investigation.

Specifically, the Senate Judiciary Committee is likely to use the closed-door interview to grill Trump Jr. on his meeting in June 2016 with a Russian contingent that was described as offering dirt on his father's rival, Hillary Clinton.

Futerfas confirmed the proposed meeting in an email to POLITICO.

Donald Trump Jr. told Senate judiciary committee staffers Thursday that he did not recall the details of White House involvement in the public response to his 2016 meeting with a Russian lawyer and did not know much about the Air Force One meeting that allegedly led to the production of the statement, sources told CNN.

The Washington Post reported in late July that while on the plane ride back from the G 20 summit, the president was involved in crafting a statement that Trump Jr. met with Russians primarily to discuss a "program about the adoption of Russian children".

In addition to Trump Jr., former national security adviser Susan Rice will speak with lawmakers in Congress Wednesday morning, a source with direct knowledge told CNN.

Trump said he had concerns about the invitation he got from Rob Goldstone, a music promoter he knew from his business dealings in Russian Federation.

"After perfunctory greetings, the lawyer began telling the group very generally something about individuals connected to Russian Federation supporting or funding Democratic Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton or the Democratic National Committee", Trump Jr. said.

A music publicist had told Trump Jr. that Veselnitskaya had dirt on Clinton, the Democratic nominee, that had been collected by the Russian government, emails released by Trump Jr. showed.

The Senate intelligence committee has been the main panel in the chamber looking into the Russian Federation matter, though the judiciary committee under GOP Chairman Chuck Grassley has intensified its focus in recent months. Kushner has met with that staff, as well as members of the House Intelligence Committee. "Ambassador Rice remains fully supportive of bipartisan efforts to determine the extent and scope of Russia's outrageous efforts to interfere in the 2016 election", she said in a statement.
