Jaguar's electric E-type Zero is absolutely lovely

The new Jaguar E Type Zero – classic looks but electric power delivers 0-60mph in just 5.5 seconds

Jaguar Land Rover has joined an increasing list of vehicle companies to confirm that all new products launched after 2020 will feature some form of electrification. The company, owned by India's Tata Motors, announced Thursday, September 7 it would start introducing all new cars with an electric powertrain beginning in 2020.

The news was shared today, at Jaguar Land Rover Tech Fest 2017, alongside the reveal of the new FUTURE-TYPE concept of an autonomous, all-electric vehicle intended for a shared motoring world.

Jaguar Land Rover said all of its new cars and light trucks will be available with full electric, plug-in hybrid or mild hybrid technology, starting in 2020. No other reproduction or distribution is permitted without prior written consent.

As a sign of its commitment to electric cars, JLR also displayed an EV version of the 1960s E-Type, dubbed the E-Type Zero. Built by Jaguar Classic the auto will do zero to 60 in 5.5 seconds. A report suggested that the E-type Zero combines the E-type dynamic experience with enhanced performance through electrification. We have to do both, we have to refine the internal combustion engine and simultaneously research and develop even more competitive petro-electric vehicles. The Ingenium engine that now sits at the heart of JLR's cars was created to be modular, so the next step you can expect is a wider range of hybrid options.

The Jaguar E-Type Zero was unveiled along with the Jaguar I-PACE.

JAGUAR and Land Rover will fill their showrooms with electrons, announcing an aggressive push into hybrid and battery-fuelled vehicles.

In a speech that stressed the collaborative social responsibility to develop electrified vehicles, Speth highlighted the benefits of an autonomous, integrated electric future, a future with less congestion, fewer accidents and cleaner air, but also one with notable risks to privacy and freedoms.

Jaguar has given its iconic E-type Roadster new life with the all-electric E-type Zero concept.

The vehicle (pictured below) features an intelligent steering wheel called the "Sayer", named after Malcolm Sayer, designer of the E-type.
