Hurricane Harvey: Disney & KTRK-TV Houston Commit $1M For Relief Efforts; Set 'Day Of Giving'

It's not the first time The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation has provided disaster relief funds. United Way Worldwide, the largest privately funded non-profit, said Wednesday that all proceeds of the Harvey Recovery Fund would go directly to recovery efforts.

The charitable organization United Way has announced that the film star inaugurated the United Way Harvey Recovery Fund with a $1 million contribution from his Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation. The National Hurricane Centre has downgraded Harvey to a tropical depression, but is warning of continuing flooding in parts of Southeast Texas and southwest Louisiana.

United Way Worldwide said it was "incredibly grateful" for the generosity of DiCaprio and his foundation.

Sandra Bullock is the latest celebrity to help in the Hurricane Harvey relief effort with a gift of $1 million to the Red Cross.

Many celebrities have pulled out their pocketbooks to help Harvey victims in recent days including Sandra Bullock, who on Tuesday donated $1 million to the American Red Cross. "It just really makes me just really upset", the singer, 24, said, her voice shaking. "We have to take care of one another". "My heart goes out to my home town, Houston, and I remain in constant prayer for those affected and for the rescuers who have been so courageous and determined to do so much to help", Beyoncé said.

Rudy added: "She's starting out with a significant donation, and that donation is getting us to launch out into some areas that help us more effectively impact the communities that have been the most affected".

"Houston, our hearts are with you", the rock band Fall Out Boy posted on social media, with the message that all proceeds from its scheduled November 7 show at Houston's Toyota Center "will benefit Hurricane Harvey relief efforts & local organizations aiding those in need".
