Next Games is now working on a new mobile video game based on AMC's The Walking Dead, which sounds all well and good, but wait until you hear that it makes use of augmented reality gameplay, much like fellow mobile title Pokémon Go.
Well that's a little scary and hopefully unlikely, but developer Next Games might have the next best thing: a Walking Dead augmented reality game for iOS and Android. They are shown fending them off using everything from guns and grenades to what looks like Michonne's sword. However, it is about time that they have come up with an AR style of video game, which is an nearly assured hit amongst would-be zombie-killing enthusiasts.
It'll supposedly kill off "a few more" characters, too, and that's something Chandler Riggs (Carl Grimes) echoed during a recent interview with ABC's Triple J. First spotted by Screen Rant, Riggs began by offering a general overview of the show's impending eighth season, and the current state of affairs in the Rick Grimes camp. The real world will blend with digital objects including show characters and other elements.
The Walking Dead: Our World will make a walk to the shops and bone jangling adventure. In the meantime you can check out the game's trailer below, and the game's official site. "AR enables players to live through the fight for survival in a whole new way in their familiar surroundings".
Having developed an earlier game from the same title, Next Games will be well-positioned and would be well equipped with enough experience and information to produce another TWD hit game.
