Read the memo Uber's board sent employees announcing its new CEO

Driverless Uber gets driver at last, Expedia's boss Dara Khosrowshahi

While the over twelve years of experience of being the chief executive at Expedia will no doubt come in handy for Dara Khosrowshahi, he still has described his new role as the CEO of Uber as one of the "toughest decisions of my life", one that he is equally scared of as well.

Mr. Kalanick resigned as chief executive in June amid a series of scandals, including a trade secrets lawsuit filed against Uber by autonomous-car developer Waymo; accusations of a smear campaign against rape victim in India; a federal investigation into a secret software program and accusations of rampant sexism and bullying within the company. At Wednesday's meeting, he reportedly spoke about the difficulties he experienced over the past half-year and received a standing ovation from the assembled workers.

Khosrowshahi was appointed to the role by Uber's executive board on Sunday, following the dismissal of co-founder and long-term CEO Travis Kalanick.

A DE judge says an investor lawsuit targeting Uber Technologies' former CEO must be moved to private arbitration.

Dara Khosrowshahi, the low-profile chief executive of travel booking company Expedia, on Tuesday accepted an offer to be Uber's next CEO.

He added that he can "look forward to Uber and know that I will make a difference, hopefully for the better".

In a following tweet she made this even clearer: "We have a lot of work still to do at HPE and I am not going anywhere". Ultimately, the board decided on the third candidate, Khosrowshahi.

At Expedia, Khosrowshahi has been an outspoken chief executive, since 2005.

He inherits at Uber a high-stakes lawsuit filed by Alphabet Inc's Waymo that threatens Uber's self-driving vehicle business, a board divided by one investor's lawsuit against Kalanick, and an organization struggling to overcome allegations of sexual harassment and executive misconduct. "He's made outstanding acquisitions at Expedia, which I think will be a big part of Uber's future".

Mayer was Yahoo's CEO before Verizon completed its acquisition of the company.

"They asked what it would take for me to change my mind", Whitman said Monday in an interview with the Financial Times. On top of that, there is mounting expectation that the company, which is privately valued at $70 billion, will go public soon without losing value for shareholders. In Huffington's last foray in front of Uber's troops, she was on the receiving end of an ill-timed sexist joke from TPG's David Bonderman about women talking too much.

Choosing Khosrowshahi is crucial to returning stability to Uber, the world's biggest ride-hailing company, which has been without a leader since Kalanick stepped down. "I think he's a phenomenal leader; Uber is ridiculously interesting".
