'Star Wars: The Last Jedi' Gets Augmented Reality For Force Friday

The First Order Adds A Dreadnought And Super Sized AT-ATs To Its Arsenal For Star Wars The Last Jedi

The Walt Disney Co. said Thursday that its three-day event, dubbed Force Friday II, starts September 1 and will feature an augmented reality treasure hunt called Find the Force.

"Force Friday II puts fans right at the center of the action using augmented reality to bring our characters to life like never before".

The first edition of "Force Friday" occurred on September 4, 2015 and proved to be a major boon for the toy industry.

The Star Wars universe will take a page out of the Pokemon Go playbook this Force Friday.

"Find the Force" can be played locally at dozens of stores where "Star Wars" products are sold starting next Friday at 12:01 a.m. including Target, Walmart, Toys R Us, Best Buy, Books-A-Million, Bed, Bath and Beyond, Gamestop, JC Penney, Kohl's and more.

Collecting the characters will also unlock digital goodies, including video clips and character-based Emoji. That will include the reveal of a new character.

From September 1-3, retailers around the world will invite fans to Find the Force by taking part in an AR treasure hunt.

You can take photos or even short videos interacting with the characters, and even Admiral Ackbar is already discoverable. All you need to do is find the Find the Force logo in the store and scan it.

You can download the app now.
