New skins for Sombra, Junkrat, Mercy, McCree and Soldier 76 are shown above.

Following the announcement from a few days ago, blizzard launched today Overwatch's new summer event, named without much imagination "Summer Games 2018".

You can play a variety of Olympic games with Overwatch characters, including soccer, basketball, track and field and more.

Lucioball gets a new map, adding a space-age Sydney field to the earlier Rio-themed pitch from previous year. The new epic skins can be purchased for 750 credits, rare cosmetic items for 225 credits, and common cosmetic items for 75 credits.

For players who want even more than skins, there is a new Slam Dunk Pharah highlight intro and a Beach Ball Ana emote. Placement matches, skill ratings tiers, leaderboards, competitive points, and other features have been added to make you feel like going for the gold with a win. However, three sprays have to be unlocked through achievements and one has to be unlocked by completing 10 competitive matches in Lucioball.

Last year's Summer Games was tied to the 2016 Rio Olympics, so despite hints of a Summer Games return discovered alongside details of the arrival of Doomfist, it was unclear if the event will indeed be brought back this year. A major draw of this event will nearly certainly be Lucioball, which is unquestionably one of the most enjoyable event modes ever to be released for Overwatch.
