JJ Redick, Sixers agree to one-year, $23 million contract

J.J. Redick and Amir Johnson agree to deals with Philadelphia 76ers

He shot.429 percent from beyond the arc for the Los Angeles Clippers last season.

According to National Basketball Association analyst Keith Smith from RealGM, the Sixers are looking at the possibilities of putting offer sheets out for restricted free agent SG Kentavious Caldwell-Pope or SF Otto Porter, if the team can not come to an agreement with J.J. Redick, who Woj from ESPN reported was meeting with the Sixers as we speak.

On Saturday, Redick tweeted, "Trust the process", a nod to former executive Sam Hinkie's mantra about the Sixers slow but deliberate rebuild.

More to come as details become available. This marks the second Clippers starter lost in just a few days after the team traded point guard Chris Paul to the Rockets.

The Sixers would have to shell out money to get the restricted free agents in order to avoid the Pistons and Wizards, respectively, from matching the contract offers. Millsap, 32, spent his first seven seasons in Utah and past four with the Atlanta Hawks. He also provides position flexibility for head coach Brett Brown to experiment with lineup combinations utilizing Simmons and Fultz because of Redick's experience both as a shooting guard and a ball-handler bringing it up the floor from the point.

The 76ers desperately needed shooting - they were 25th in the 30-team National Basketball Association in 3-point percentage last season, making only 34 percent of their attempts. Redick averaged 15 points and made 42.9 percent of his three-pointers last season.
