Cancer survivors, caregivers honored at Relay For Life

"In addition, Relays for Life bring knowledge about the services provided by the American Cancer Society to residents of our county in need".

Like so many at the 2017 Relay for Life in Langley Friday night, Emily Taylor Adams has been touched by cancer.

"People really enjoy this event - this is the fifth year that we've done it so we're hoping to reach a goal of$50,000 in five years so I think people now look for it", said Dr. Bonnie Jones, chairperson of the Bark for Life. As the survivors pass by, clapping and celebrating to the upbeat music, the memories of all those lost over the years surfaces, too.

The American Cancer Society's Relay For Life movement is a fundraising event meant to fight every cancer in every community.

Luminara bags line the track Friday evening at the 21st Annual Stutsman County Relay for Life.

This year was the first time that the Greene County Relay for Life was held in downtown Greeneville. The ceremony is followed by the survivor lap, a lap for all cancer survivors and people now being affected by cancer.

Numerous attendees commented that they felt the Depot Street location also gave the Relay a more intimate feel, rather than the wide-open space at the GMS track.

Funds that are raised and donations made all go to cancer research and education, patient help or support and treatment programs.
