Busy Aisha Tyler says goodbye to 'The Talk' after 6 years

The daytime TV show "The Talk" is losing one of its co-hosts.

Tyler came aboard in 2011 along with comedian Sheryl Underwood. She said that the experience made her realize that directing is her passion and she needs to devote her attention to that, which she would not be able to do while working on the daily show.

"People always go "How to you do all that?', and I don't always have an answer", Tyler said on the show, also saying, "['The Talk"] is such a joy that it never feels like work to me".

Tyler was in tears when she made her announcement.

Tyler said her choice was the "hardest decision" in her life, adding that she considers the co-hosts to be her family, with whom she has "precious" friendships. Aside from her gig on the talk show, she also hosts Whose Line Is It Anyway?, acts on Criminal Minds and voices a character on animated series Archer. The shooting schedule for The Talk is rather aggressive, shooting 11 months out of the years. Aisha explained that tabloid reporters are always "perched" at the courthouse and they go through all of the divorce filings to create sensationalized stories.

Tyler continued on, explaining that directing her first feature film, Axis, was something she's "always dreamed of doing". "Life is about change", she wrote.

In one post, Aisha wrote that life is about change and sometimes it can be both painful and lovely.

Following the show, The Talk released a sweet goodbye message to Tyler via Twitter. She brokedown while telling the audience.

"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened", the tweet read.

She did say she plans on coming back as an occasional guest host and to promote her future projects. Watch "The Talk" on CBS at 2 p.m. each weekday.
