Sony unveils new 'Spider-man' game at E3 expo

Sony is remaking the critically acclaimed PlayStation 2 game Shadow of the Colossus for its current console.

During their event, Sony announced six new VR games, including a version of popular fantasy title The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Last year saw God of War and the year before that, the nostalgic trio of Shenmue 3, The Last Guardian, and Final Fantasy VII Remake. And with the recent success of Farpoint and Star Trek: Bridge Crew, those pricey helmets aren't collecting quite as much dust as we thought they'd be. The organization said that it had more than 70 million month to month active users worldwide toward the end of March, while PlayStation Plus revealed 26.4 million paid users.

Finally, it was revealed that the game was running on a PlayStation 4 Pro last night - and looks very pretty as a result. Potentially, new gameplay footage and a release window for both titles may be unveiled. If you haven't experienced fishing inside the main title for yourself, you'll likely see this trailer and immediately question this game's value. However, its $499 price tag makes it about $100 more expensive than PlayStation 4.

Game play on 4K screens, whether on televisions or personal computer monitors, is expected to be among themes at E3 this week. Sony launched three pieces of PlayStation hardware in three months previous year, so don't expect anything like that to happen again.

PlayStation has also become the prime driver of revenue and profit at the Japan-based entertainment giant Sony, executives say. An added 10 million units in six months is not bad.
