Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan to visit Mandsaur tomorrow

Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh

A number of political leaders, including Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, and social activists tried to visit Mandsaur but the police didn't let them enter the area.

Police also used mild force to turn away Patel's supporters.

Mandsaur has become the epicentre of a farmers' agitation over a demand for loan waivers and better prices for their produce. It appears that Hitler's rule is prevailing in the State.

Slamming the BJP government in Madhya Pradesh, Swaraj India on Tuesday said it was trying to hide something on the farmers' killing and therefore, not allowing anyone to visit Mandsaur.

"It is a matter of shame that instead of meeting the grieving farmers' families, the Chief Minister staged a nautanki [drama] in Bhopal in the name fast".

The commission will also probe the action taken by the administration and police to control the situation was appropriate or not. However, he ended his fast on Sunday claiming that peace has returned to the state.

He said the death of five farmers in police firing in Mandsaur was a blot on the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government.

"While a debt waiver in the near term leads to relief in agri NPAs for banks in that state, we feel it sets the wrong precedent for future servicing, and impacts on credit behaviour in other states", the brokerage said. I have not come from Lahore.

Meanwhile, Swami Agnivesh said in Madhya Pradesh that "the citizens don't have the freedom to move anywhere as they are not allowed to go anywhere".

"Hardik Patel was stopped at the Nayagaon barrier", Neemuch Superintendent of Police T.K. Vidyarthi told IANS.

Patel was detained in Madhya Pradesh's Neemuch district while en route to Mandsaur to meet the kin of farmers' killed in police firing during an agitation. Despite the BJP's election-time promise of raising farm incomes to 50% above cost of production, incomes have remained stagnant and even slowed down after demonetisation, the activists have said. "By stopping the leaders, who wanted to meet the kin, the government is trying to hide something and that must be revealed", Yadav said after returning from Neemuch in Madhya Pradesh.
