Jose set to lose De Gea

Charlie Nicholas is expecting to see David De Gea move to Real Madrid in the summer transfer window if Real Madrid come calling.

Having been understudy to De Gea in his two years at Old Trafford, Romero has managed just 27 games for the club in all competitions so far, though he's rarely put a foot wrong when called upon. "He is No1. Everything tells me he will be at Real Madrid next season".

But despite Mourinho's public assertion that De Gea will remain at Old Trafford, concern over the Spaniard's intentions have now prompted United to intensify their monitoring of Oblak, with the club increasing their scouting trips to the Vicente Calderon to watch the 24-year-old.

José Mourinho has confirmed that David de Gea will not play for Manchester United again this season but insists the 'keeper will play for the club in their first pre-season game against LA Galaxy in July.

The Slovenian goalkeeper has and £85million release clause in his contract, but it is thought that Atletico could listen to offers in the region of £40million and above.

That's because the Daily Star state that Mourinho has made Jan Oblak his number one target if De Gea does leave and is lining-up a £40m swoop for the Atletico Madrid goalkeeper. With De Gea seemingly set to move to Real Madrid, Mourinho has apparently decided that Romero can fill the void left by the former Atletico Madrid man.

With this in mind, United themselves have been looking for replacements for De Gea.

He is prepared to splash out a world-record £60million for a goalkeeper to replace current Bernabeu No 1 Keylor Navas.
