'Baby Driver' Release Date Moves Up 6 Weeks to June

The star-studded cast of 'Baby Driver'

In a sign of Sony's growing confidence in the high-octane action film, the studio revealed it had moved the release date forward more than six weeks to June 28. Baby Driver will follow in the wake of Paramount's Transformers: The Last Knight on July 23 and act as older male counterprogramming to Illumination/Universal's Despicable Me 3, but it will butt up against the New Line/Warner Bros.' Will Ferrell-Amy Poehler movie The House. Filmmaker Edgar Wright revealed yesterday the death-defying extremes he went to for heist thriller Baby Driver - strapping himself to the outside of a speeding auto to get the right shots.

Las Vegas - CinemaCon attendees were treated to the first look at what is sure to be this summer's most musical action movie during Sony Pictures' presentation Monday night. The film is now at 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics calling it "a blast, featuring wall-to-wall music and a surfeit of inspired ideas". Wright told the crowd that he designed the film to be seen "loud and large" on the big screen. "Whenever we were filming, I always had the earbuds in and was listening to the music", said Elgort.

Wright used 35 songs throughout the film, with the cast rehearsing to the music which was played on set.

Jon Hamm stated the obvious when he called it very exciting to be in a vehicle going 80 miles per hour the wrong way on an interstate.

Baby Driver stars Ansel Elgort as the title character, a music-loving getaway driver who attempts to leave his life of crime behind after meeting the girl of his dreams (Lily James). Coerced into working for a crime boss (Kevin Spacey), Baby must face the music as a doomed heist threatens his life, love and freedom.
