Amazon Alexa Is Now Rolling Out to The Huawei Mate 9

We're not sure if Huawei and Amazon have purposefully dropped voice trigger functionality to avoid any possible conflicts with Google Assistant, but we really wish Huawei adds this functionality in a future update.

In regards to the overall voice assistant battle over hotel rooms, Alexa now appears to be winning. Intriguingly enough, Amazon and Huawei have built an app paradoxically called Huawei Alexa which brings the virtual assistant forth.

Everything is not the same as the real thing, since this app does not necessarily mean that users don't need to think about buying an Echo just yet. Instead, it'll work inside an app which will include one button to activate the voice assistant.

So to be able to finally access Alexa on your Huawei Mate 9, you will have to install a couple of applications before shouting commands at the new assistant.

The Huawei Mate app offers many Alexa features, like the ability to controll your smart home devices, check the news, shop, listen to Audible content, and more.

Huawei has told us that it does intend to fix the first limitation “within the next year”, so that your Mate 9 would always be listening for the hot word. ZDNet points out that Huawei has made more than 10,000 skills available for the Alexa and that more will roll out for the Mate 9 over time. With the option for iPhone users to access both Siri and Alexa, it will be interesting to see which AI lady is the most popular.

How do you manage Alexa on Mate 9?

Even with strong competition from the likes of Google and Apple, Alexa stands on its own. But the real battle comes down to Alexa vs. Siri-which voice-activated assistant is more useful? Customers can add as many items as they want and Alexa can offer suggestions based on the other items in their current order.

As if booze delivery wasn't exciting enough regardless, USA Today also says that beer and white wine will arrive already chilled in a refrigerated bag, meaning you'll be able to drink as soon as it shows up.
