Donald Trump goes to The People's Court in SNL sketch

On Thursday, only "Extra" was with Alec Baldwin as he prepared to host "Saturday Night Live" for a record-breaking seventeenth time this weekend.

The show opened with Melissa McCarthy reprising her hilarious role from last week as Spicer. The 58-year-old actor has portrayed Trump since the beginning of season 42, mocking the president for his perceived cluelessness, inexperience, unstable temperament and general lack of knowledge when it comes to politics.

Jake Tapper - As amusing as the new Sean Spicer sketch was, I had a hard time choosing between that one and this one.

In his latest sketch, Baldwin's Trump carried out a vow the President made on Twitter last week to "see you in court" - directed at the three Ninth Circuit federal judges who have refused to reinstate his travel ban.

The judges expressed a concern that the ban discriminates on the basis of religion. Bare-chested Vladimir Putin (Beck Bennett) showed up as a character witness, but Judge Milian was unimpressed by it all. There was no kissing this time around.

That's where we are in 2017: "We repeat back everything Trump says".

But Michaels has admitted the show struggled with a take of President Barack Obama that resonated with audiences. No such event ever happened and Conway later said she misspoke.

This episode had other things going for it. Ed Sheeran was a terrific musical guest.

"For me, that was the best skit in what was a great show", Chase said. It appears he can't help hate-watching the show. Cecily Strong as Judge Marilyn Milian asked.

So, instead of offering him a quickfire round of Constitutional Law lessons, SNL indulged Trump's grand idea with a visit to The People's Court, a fitting venue for a "TV president" indeed. She was also mentioned once by the now-leader of the free world during his first presidential debate with Hillary Clinton.

He said: "I enjoy being a part of it. Playing him is not a lot of fun".
