Charles Oakley banned from Madison Square Garden, James Dolan says

Dolan, appearing on The Michael Kay Show on ESPN New York Radio, said that it is "not necessarily a lifetime ban".

Dolan said that Oakley was being abusive from the time he stepped into the Garden, and it "accelerated" down to Oakley's seat and to the incident with security guards.

The announcement comes two days after Oakley was arrested after getting into an altercation at a New York Knicks game.

DNA Info reports that Dolan may take action against other employees in the aftermath of the incident.

Again, these statements, which you can read in full here, are all from Knicks and MSG employees. He was eventually escorted out of the arena, arrested and placed in handcuffs, then charged with third-degree assault and one count of trespass. "It started when he entered the building and continued until he was arrested and left the building".

Oakley, who has a rocky history with Dolan, denied the accusations in a round of media interviews on Thursday, claiming he said nothing to Dolan during the four minutes he was at the game.

"He should have never made it to his seats, and that's on us", Dolan said.

He added: "Maybe I can come make a suggestion, make them get better". Oakley also told reporters that MSG security insisted on following him around at games long before Benedetto was hired last August. "Oakley!" in defense of the popular power forward, who helped the Knicks reach the NBA Finals during his years on the court for the team, between 1988 and 1998. He has been upset with Knicks management that he has not been invited to participate in any of the team's 70th anniversary celebrations.

" said, you have to leave because someone ordered you to leave", he said on the video posted on the restaurant's Instagram page. Flanked by tennis legend John McEnroe and an NYPD officer reportedly chanting, "Free Charles Oakley", the former Knick was dragged out through one of the arena's entrances under the stands, while onlookers watched in disbelief.
