Bad cable delays comeback rocket launch from Virginia

In this handout provided by NASA, The Orbital ATK Antares rocket, with the Cygnus spacecraft onboard, stands on launch Pad-0A at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility on October 15, 2016 Wallops Island, Virginia.

Initially set for Thursday, Orbital ATK will now launch its unmanned Cygnus cargo ship no earlier than October 16 from Wallops Island, Virginia, the United States space agency has said.

The rocket will be carrying Orbital's Cygnus cargo spacecraft to the International Space Station, according to NASA.

Cygnus cargo ship will be deployed from an Antares rocket no earlier than 8:03 p.m. He also writes a blog, called Orbital Velocity, about the space station. One of the experiments being sent up is created to study how fire behaves in micro gravity. He saw his first in-person launch on July 8, 2011 when the space shuttle launched for the final time.

People planning to head out to try to see the rocket should have a clear view of the horizon in the direction of Wallops Island, Virginia.

During that 2014 accident, the Antares booster's first stage suffered a failure in one of its two Aerojet Rocketdyne AJ26 engines, refurbished versions of engines originally built for the Soviet-era N-1 moon rocket.

After launchpad testing was conducted in May, NASA contractor Orbital ATK targeted a July launch and then a late August launch.

It also made good on two station deliveries using another company's rockets in Florida. It will provide data on the quantity and size of inhalable particles in the space station's ambient air. The Cool Flames experiment, for instance, will look at fires that burn at low temperatures in microgravity - research that could help engineers develop new space propulsion systems. Nine experimental samples of varying materials burn inside an empty Cygnus resupply vehicle after it leaves the International Space Station and before it re-enters Earth's atmosphere.
