Mr Modi said, he had detailed discussion with Tanzanian President and they agreed to focus on an action oriented agenda of cooperation.

"We live in a world where preachers of hate and violence are threatening the fabric of our society", Modi said while addressing the students of the University of Nairobi here.

India and Kenya on Monday signed seven agreements to strengthen ties between the two nations. He visited Mozambique, South Africa and Tanzania, besides Kenya.

He said Gandhi was as much to South Africa as he was to India, and described the country as Gandhi's 'karmabhoomi'. He noted India is already a substantial economic partner of Tanzania, adding the whole range of economic ties are healthy and on upswing.

The trip also comes after visits by President Pranab Mukherjee to Ghana, Ivory Coast and Namibia last month and by vice-president Hamid Ansari to Morocco and Tunisia in May-June. Modi is on two days.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today offered India's experiences and expertise to Kenya to help it fulfill its developmental priorities, in the sectors it chooses and the speed it prefers.

Kenya's oldest newspaper and the second-largest in circulation, The Standard, has asked the Kenyatta administration to push India to open its doors to goods from Kenya.

We recognize that without the opportunities for the success of our youth, our societies can not grow.

He said the South African government would consider various instruments in order to increase co-operation between South African and Indian businesses.

Tanzania and India also agreed to boost cooperation in health, education, industry and information and communications technology.

Harshavardhan Neotia, President of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FICCI), said trade between the two nations continues to grow.
