Elizabeth Warren Blisters GOP For 'Full-Scale Assault' On The Judicial Branch

Donald Trump

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham said Tuesday that Trump's comments were "the most un-American thing from a politician since Joe McCarthy".

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) plans to excoriate Senate Republicans and presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump for what she called a “full-scale assault” on the U.S. judicial system.

Warren on Thursday will criticize Republicans for blocking President Barack Obama’s judicial nominees and for “viciously attacking” those picks and sitting judges “at the first sign that they might put the rule of law above devotion to the rich and powerful,” according to advance excerpts of a speech she plans to make at the national convention of the American Constitution Society, a progressive legal organization.

“Powerful interests are now launching a full-scale assault on the integrity of the federal judiciary and its judges,” Warren says in the prepared remarks provided by her office.

Warren plans to take Trump to task over his racist claim that Gonzalo Curiel, the federal judge handling two lawsuits against Trump University, is biased against him because of his Mexican heritage.

Trump, who is still building the general election fundraising machine needed to take on the Clinton juggernaut, played down expectations this week.

As his supporters began singing, Trump laughed and said "I don't want to hear about it".

"I don't understand why we talk about Mexico as a race". He also reached a finance agreement with the Republican National Committee that will allow him to collect larger checks for his campaign and help fill the party's coffers, funds that will also benefit his campaign.

The liberal lawmaker increasingly has tangled with Trump, taking on a role that she seems able to execute more effectively than other Democrats, including presumptive presidential nominee Hillary Clinton. Ryan is still endorsing him though. "The Republican Party and our leaders, we've got to get down to business". The question is 'Can folks put on a Donald Trump T-shirt?' And the reality is it's hard to do that given this current rhetoric. "The implication, obviously, is that Kirk endorsed Trump in spite of all those controversial positions, and in spite of his previous attacks on Judge Curiel, and only un-endorsed after the media heat grew so severe around Trump (after his most recent assault on Curiel) that he had no choice".
